Welcome to Voice of Good Science

Science is ever changing. Sticking to fixed notions is like clinging to a past. Let it be any branch of science, we have to be open minded to analyze the evidence and accept the good things in it and discard the illogical things from it.

Remember the words of Albert Einstein, "Science must be explained as simple as possible, but not simpler.

Medicine like engineering is applied science. Homeopathy is the youngest of all medical faculties and it is growing. It is modern not only by its virtue of being young, but more importantly by the revolutionary medical philosophy that supports this science.

The "Voice of Good Science" is an independent movement dedicated to improve human health through initiating public health policy. It's objectives are three-fold

A. Differentiating Good Science from Bad Science

The consequences of good science as well as bad science are enormous. Therefore be careful in differentiating them. It's difficult but not impossible. For e.g. Andrew Wakefield’s research paper linking autism and vaccines was a landmark paper. While his work was appreciated, what about millions of children who were vaccinated before having this knowledge and may have contracted deadly illnesses as a result.

But how you can do that?

1. Sharpen your logic (both inductive and deductive) by healthy discussion, critical reasoning and rational thinking, not arguing. Argument is a lost battle.
2. Claims by Good Science must be tested, verified and results published in peer-review journals.

B. Promote Good Science

1. To play an active role in public debates, discussions and understanding about science.
2. To encourages everyone to have an informed choice about science-based medicine. Extraordinary cures requires extraordinary medicine.
3. To promote transparency in clinical trials by encouraging pharma companies not to withhold the data related to side effects of medicine and publish the results of clinical trials which will help the physician to make an evidence-based decision in the interest of patients.

C. Watch Bad Science (pseudo-science)

1. Science is under attack by s(k)eptics, who are cynics, fascists and atheists. It is often said that have nothing right in the left brain and nothing left in the right brain. They are dangerous to public health. Steer clear of quacks and their quackery.
But how to identify a quack?
Here's a post that will help you: The Lame Duck Award
2. Confront by debunking bad science

Conclusion
Stand up for Science. Follow Science. Stick to the Science.

The Lame Duck Award

The Lame Duck Award

The Voice of Good Science (VoGS) is initiating this year an annual 'The Lame Duck Award' to a quack who promote pseudo-science.

A quack or a pseudo-scientist is a person or organisation that has an (anti-science) agenda of opposing good science or good medicine in potentially dangerous, most irresponsible and irrational behaviour. They try to influence the outcome of the research studies by withholding negative data to sell more drugs and hormones, involved in paid news and ghostwriting. They are active promoters of 'synthetic chemical drug' (quackery) and have vested interest in keeping people in dark by misinforming them that legitimate natural medicine such as herbal and homeopathic medicine is not good for anyone (but do not drink vaccine).

The nominations can be made every year in the month of October. The names of the shortlisted candidates will be made public on 1st November every year. The public will finally vote to choose the winner. The Voting lines will be opened in the month of November. The annual award will be presented every year in an online ceremony on 1st December at 10.23 a.m. The winner will be awarded with a picture of Lame Duck as shown above.

Nominations can be made by directly through comments below or through 'Contact Us' form on right hand sidebar if you don't want to disclose your name publicly.  In the message box, write whom you would you like to nominate and why?

Those of who who are unsure whom to nominate can have a look at QuackWatch

In the meantime, you can practice for 'The Lame Duck Award' ceremony at http://www.girlsgogames.com/game/hook-a-duck.html

"Dr" Santa Singh, quack of the year 2012

'The Voice of Good Science' officially recognises Santa Singh as the recipient of a prestigious "Lame duck Award" for his untiring efforts to introduce quackery into science. He has given a bad name to good science, without the qualifications to make the good judgement.

He does have a degree in mathematics but claims his expertise in advance studies like homeopathy in which he has no knowledge. His book "trick and tick" was full of lies which were exposed by Wills. He threatens anyone who publishes a magazine on complementary medicine. His double standards were exposed by JamPole who tears into his hypocrisy.

Of late, he has been trying to be in limelight and news by resorting to unfair, underhand tactic to discredit natural medicine modalities like herbal and other science-based medicine on his website. Singh continues to promote and show more respect to 'synthetic chemical drugs' aka conmed (read quackery) whose adverse effects far exceeds the good effects; but he never criticizes weakness of the drug market.

His views on global warming and climate change are bizarre to say the least.

He was involved in a lawsuit with BritChiro Assoc. He not only lost money but also faced wrath from the scientific community.

He is a true quack.

His original name is Santa Singh. Lately he has changed his hair style and first name to look more like an Englishman. His first name is popular in many countries as a legendary Christmas folk hero for children who brings Christmas gifts/presents. In India the name evokes humourous cartoon stereotypes.

He is far ahead of other UK Septics like Edward Earnest and Denial Colhoun in popular votes to win the race for the biggest quack.

Congratulations! Mr. Singh.

At the same time we also pray to God to give him wisdom to distinguish science from pseudo-science and medicine from pseudo-medicine.

'The Voice of Good Medicine' takes this opportunity to congratulate the public especially those people from the United Kingdom who voted for the most deserving quack for the inaugural 'The lame Duck Award' 2012.

The last congress: 65th World Homeopathic Congress was held in California, USA from 18-22 May 2010

UPDATES

1. A press conference was held on November 17, 2011 at the Press Club of India, New Delhi for announcement of the LIGA Congress during December 1-4, 2011.

2. Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad inaugurated the 66th World Homeopathic Congress 2011

He said Government of India proposes to set up an All India Institute of Homeopathy and a Homeopathic Medicines Pharmaceutical Corporation during the 12th 5-year Plan to fulfill the emerging interest of scientists for research besides facilities for manufacturing of homeopathic medicines— aiming to ensure quality and timely supplies to dispensaries.

He also said, “World Professional bodies like Liga Medicorum Homeopathica Internationalis have an important role to play here by addressing the skepticism surrounding the scientific nature and reliability of this system of medicine. It is for LMHI and its members to endeavour to find answers to such misconceptions by showing how the Homeopathic science has evolved over the last 200 years and contributed in overcoming some of the challenging epidemics and other diseases.”

He added, “The primary health care approach, beginning with the Declaration of Alma-Ata more than 30 years ago, recognized that prevention requires collaboration with multiple health sectors. This is where the relevance of Homeopathy in health care could come in. The medicines in homeopathy are widely used in curative care since they are seen as being cost effective, simple and also due to the fact that they are seen to cure certain diseases for which there is no known or effective treatment in other systems."

He further added, “India will take all measures to strengthen homoeopathic education by studying the best practices in the world besides further developing infrastructure. We have to gear up all systems of medicine by bringing about awareness among the masses taking advantage of the unique strengths each system has. Homeopathy in this case becomes relevant as it provides simple and cost effective remedies.”

3. The Congress was presided over by Ms. Sheila Dikshit, Chief Minister, Government of Delhi.
She said, "Participants of around 1500 delegates for India and abroad will, no doubt, make it a memorable event and will be able to establish importance and relevance of the Homeopathy"

4. Guest of Honour health minister Rao Narender Singh, Govt. of Haryana said, "The state government is planning to put more emphasis on mother and child healthcare through homeopathy by launching house-to-house services. Keeping in view the vulnerability of mothers and children to strong medicines, the "Mother and Child Healthcare Campaign" of the Central government was successfully launched with a focus on homeopathy, he added.

5. Delivering the key note address at WHC, Dr.Syeda Hameed, Member, Planning Commission, Govt. of India commending the tremendous success within one year of launching the Tele-Homoeopathy project in Tripura that had so far benefitted more than 20,000 tribals in far-flung areas in the North-Eastern State, Dr.Syeda expressed her serious concern saying,"Think of how you reach millions of people suffering in more than 65 naxalite-infested districts of the country."

6. Dr. S. P. S. Bakshi, President, LIGA 2011 (Knowledge Park, Greater Noida) added, “Higher use of homoeopathy will minimise overuse of antibiotics in commonly occurring infectious diseases, thus checking the incidence of antibiotic resistance in the public.”

7. Central Council of Homeopathy (CCH) vice-president Dr. Arun Bhasme said: “India is a superpower in homeopathy and is a place full of opportunities for those who wish to learn and undertake research in homeopathy."

8. Dr. Jose Matuk Kanan, President, LMHI declared the Congress open for scientific session proceedings. He said all other countries should emulate the “Indian Model of Homeopathy" in developing effective policies for promoting health to reach the remote and rural areas.

9. An important essay, 'Homeopathy as NanoMedicine' by Dr. Jayesh Bellare , Head, Chemical Engineering Department, the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay, was presented in the congress. He said, “Even the highest dilutions of remedies have left signatures of respective original molecules in their nano-particle form, when subjected to electron microscopy studies, validated later by wavelength analysis.” He told the WHC how succession process could ‘break the quantum domain’ of the medical substance and accelerates/decelerates protein, like electro-magnetic waves do. Prof. Jayesh would also be speaking in an International Workshop on NanoMedicine at IIT Kharagpur on 3-4 Jan 2012

Conclusions

1. As many as 65-hour oral and 100 poster presentations covering various aspects of  homoeopathy

2. India invited to popularize homeopathy in Sri Lanka. "We soon enact legislation in our Parliament and encourage doctors from India and other countries to work with us as we have shortage of doctors,” Sri Lanka's minister for indigenous medicine Salinda Disanayake announced.

3. A high-level delegation led by the LMHI President Dr.Jose Matuk Kanan met The President of India Mrs. Pratibha Devi Singh Patil at Rashtrapathi Bhavan.

UK Septics

List of shortlisted candidates for "Lame Duck Award 2012"

Edward Earnest

He himself admitted that he tried learning homeopathy, acupuncture, herbalism, chiropractic but never completed any course. Without having a medical qualification he practiced and admitted in a national newspaper that many of his patients seemed to improved dramatically. He has mind so wide open that brains fall out. Fate made him 'skeptic without k', get famous as an authority after failing as CAMventional practitioner. He has zero qualifications in homeopathic medicine. But by fraud he becomes a Professor of Complementary medicine in an accredited University. Now he has been potentised.

He authored a book "treat and tick".  It was full of half-truths which were exposed in an another book titled "H Science"

He is fighting a losing battle with the Prince who is going to have the last laugh.

He was once a reviewer of a high-impact Journal "Lance" but he breached the professional code of scientific behaviour by leaking under-review paper before publication. It was deplored by the journal and the scientific community.

Chris Wiki has dedicated a law in his name titled "Earnest First Law". It says, "Endlessly repeat what they want to hear and the septics will keep sending me their blessings and I shall be king."

He is quite active on twiter.

Santa Singh

He does have a degree in mathematics but claims his expertise in advance studies like homeopathy in which he has no knowledge. His book "trick and tick" was full of lies which were exposed by Wills. He threatens anyone who publishes a magazine on complementary medicine. His double standards were exposed by JamPole who tears into his hypocrisy.

Of late, he has been trying to be in limelight and news by resorting to unfair, underhand tactic to discredit natural medicine modalities like herbal and other science-based medicine on his website. He has named the corporation after the name of a person who was a supporter of homeopathic medicines. He has a teapot in his corporation who reminds us of anarchy. Singh continues to promote and show more respect to 'synthetic chemical drugs' aka conmed (read quackery) whose adverse effects far exceeds the good effects; but he never criticizes weakness of the drug market.

Lately he has changed his gravity-defy hair style and first name to look more like an Englishman. His first name is popular in many countries as a legendary Christmas folk hero for children who brings Christmas gifts/presents. In India the name evokes humourous cartoon stereotypes.

His parents have used Ayurvedic Medicines.

His views on global warming and climate change are bizarre to say the least.

He was involved in a lawsuit with BritChiro Assoc. He not only lost money but also faced wrath from the scientific community.

He is a very self-conscious person.

Denial Calhoun

He is a man of conmed pharma and consider everything else including science-based medicine as quackery. He is anti-science. He considers conmed as AC probability Science. No one knows what does it mean. He smokes nicotine pipe.

He has targeted science and complementary medicine in universities.  He often mis-represent science on his website confusing the readers. He was accused by the herbalist of inappropriate use of his official position by targeting natural medicine on university website and misuse of university resources. He was forced to remove the content from the university website around 5 years back. He was dismissed from a committee of council of natural healthcare.

He is known for sending a series of unpleasant and vindictive comments if the article in a journal is not to his liking.

He was forced to remove his defamatory post upon legal advice.

He considers himself a senior scientist and prefer calling himself as a Professor of Pharmacology.

He is an atheist.
